SAFARI Do you like animals? If you do, then you'll have a great
time creating animals of all kinds by drawing, painting and sculpting.
ART
AROUND THE WORLD This is your chance to travel - each day another
country and culture, and each day you'll bring a piece of art that you create
back from your trip.
DINOSAURS,
DRAGONS & MORE Looking to stretch your imagination? You will
dig up dinosaurs, slay dragons and uncover the mysteries around these ancient
beasts.
DOWN
THE GARDEN PATH You
might get your hands dirty as you use clay, crayolas, pencils and paint to build
your own secret garden.
NEVER ENDING STORIES Story
telling is an art in itself, and in this story-telling and drawing class you'll
get to tell stories and then illustrate them with drawings or sculptures or paintings.
ART
CAMPS grades
6-8
Art Academy If you
want to learn to draw what you see, or advance in your ability to draw and paint
what you see, or learn new techniques then this is the class for you. The focus
will change from week to week, but each instructor and each week will bring new
learning about color, line, material and you have a great opportunity to learn
from one of our master artist instructors. Art
of the Mask Build
a mask and use it to adopt a new you and use it to perform or better understand
endangered species or different cultures. You'll design and construct masks
using readily available materials for the armature (suport), celluclay (paper
maiche), paint and found objects. Watercolor
World Step into the world of watercolor
and learn the basics of watercolor principles and techniques. Experiment and
create using the images that surround you as your subject matter. Fabulous
Fibers Step
into a completely new experience and try this exciting textiles class. You will
experiment with a variety of fabric-dyeing techniques beyond the typical tie-dye.
The rich global traditions of fabrics will inspire our projects, as we explore
resist dyeing, collage and even natural dyeing materials. Drawing
and Cartooning Calling
to any of you who enjoys drawing and creating cartoons. Brush up on drawing figures
in action, dynamic scenes with perspective, cool lettering an shading to bring
out the drama. You'll learn how to use the tools of a pencil, marker, ink, watercolor,
colored pencil, chalk and charcoal to draw the figues and scenes for your
stories. Drawing
and Beyond Learn
the basics of drawing using pencil, charcoal or chalks. Have fun learning to put
on paper what you see in front of your very eyes. You'll work from simple still-life
set ups, and come to understand and appreciate the tools and materials.

Cast
Glass (Note:
Limit of 12 students) $10.00 Supply Fee included in class fee. Glass paper weights
are a piece of art, and you will learn how to make one in this class! You will
make a model out of clay and create a mold that you will fill with glass frit
and fire in our glass kiln. Once your creation has cooled down, you'll learn methods
for working with cold glass, cleaning and polishing your finished piece. Painting
with Glass
(Note: Limit of 12 students) $10.00 for supplies included in
class fee.A new class and a new medium - learn to mix powdered glass with a friendly
non-toxic material to make a paint - painting with glass on glass! Once your project
is complete, you'll fire it in our glass kiln so that the painting is fused to
its glass base. SAORI
Free Style Weaving Spend
a week with a loom that allows you to create a one of a kind scarf/tapestry or
table runner - or just start weaving and see what evolves! You'll learn how to
be a SAORI weaver and to enjoy the process of creating fabric. It's fun and creative
and you will end up with a finished product that reflects your new skill and your
creativity.
CLAY
CAMP
Get
Creative in Clay Get
your hands dirty in this fun and challenging ceramics class. You will have the
opportunity to build your skill with the pottery wheel and hand building technilques.
Great class for both beginning and experienced students and there will be plenty
of opportunity for personal expression and experimenation, and you could learn
about pottery from other cultures.
THEATER
CAMPS Be
the star of your show! Instructor: Kim Huseonica This
camp will really help you get your act together. Each day is packed with theatre
games and exercises to stretch your imagination and build your skills in stage
movement, voice, and character development. We'll cover stage terms, body positions,
stage crosses, exits and entrances, and other stage basics. Through both comedy
and serious roles, you'll explore reading and interpreting the character's lines.
The week will culminate with a showcase of scenes with masks, situation pantomime,
reader's theatre, fractured fairy tales, comedic improvisation, and Shakespeare.
Theatre
Basics Instructor:
Megan Fae Dougherty
What goes on back-stage? How do actors prepare for a role? Spend a week finding
out! From a behind-the-scenes backstage tour of the Schneider Theatre to putting
on make-up, you'll get a theatre immersion experience. You'll learn about who
does what: the Director, stage manager, set, lights and costume designers,
and more. We'll do fun exercises and practice snippets of dialogue or scenes from
various plays, including some staged at the Bloomington Civic Theatre. We will
use this dialogue to talk about and work on the audition process. On the last
day, family and friends are invited to a showcase highlighting what you've done
during our theatre week together.

| | Bringing
a Character to Life: Acting Basics Instructor:
Paul R. Coate How do you start from who you are - your body,
your voice, your mannerisms - to create a new "person" through acting?
Play with different approaches to acting this week. Through King, Warrior, Lover
and Magician roles, you'll find your way into the fun of acting. We'll use scenes
from the light, easy-to-understand works of Shakespeare. Voice, physicality, style,
presence and delivery will be our focus. On the final day, parents and friends
are invited to a class presentation. Getting
Down to Basics for the Beginning Actor: The Will Builder Instructor:
Chrissy Fournier This course,
based on elementary Stanislavski techniques, will introduce participants to an
overview of how the actor must prepare. We'll do exercises that focus on relaxation,
visualization, and intention. You'll learn about sense memory, emotional recall,
and how to audition effectively. Group members will be assigned a monologue, or
small scene to prepare and will be assisted with all the elements of building
subtext for their characters.
ART
SANDBOX grades
1-8
Join us for a week of play in our sandbox of art - each
day you'll have fun with a different form of art - drawing, sculpting, painting,
pottery, music and movement.
Use this last week of the summer to taste
new art experiences, have fun and use your imagination.
Everyday will be
a new adventure, and each day will bring new opportunities for fun as you step
into an art experience with one of our artist/instructors.
Drawing
Fun Have fun drawing with an artist! Use different tools and get
different results!
Sculpture
of All Kinds You'll be surprised at what you can create with
paper, wire, tissue, glue or tin foil!
Painting
Outside the Lines Use all sorts of things to paint! Use all sorts
of color to create your own piece of art!
Clay
for a Day Play with clay and create pinch pots, tiles, bowls, small
animals or small sculputres.
Music & Movement Sing,
dance and perform - learn simple songs and simple dances for the fun of it!
