  INEZ GREENBERG GALLERY...

Transparent Watercolor Society of America 32nd Annual Juried Exhibition
Dates: May 16-July 24, 2008
Location: Inez Greenberg Gallery
BAC is proud to host the annual juried exhibition of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. While there are many water-based painting mediums on the market today, TWSA recognizes an important distinction between “transparent watercolor” and “water-based mediums.” TWSA’s members must only use transparent watercolor in the paintings they submit.
Watercolor artists from all over the country have entered their paintings for consideration, and 85 have been chosen for the exhibit. Nationally known artist Ted Nuttall is the juror for this year’s competition, and he is offering a watercolor workshop at BAC June 9-13. For more information visit the TWSA website at www.watercolors.org

Fleeting Bits of the Ordinary
Dates:
August 1-September 5, 2008
Artists: Gregory Graham and Joy Liberman
Location: Inez Greenberg Gallery
Artists’ Reception: Fri., Aug. 1, 6-8 pm “Every day is an unbroken string of extraordinary moments; fleeting bits of the ordinary we transform through careful attention.”
Graham believes that “beauty is often born of contradiction,” and this conflict is seen in his oil and acrylic paintings. Serene, yet somehow disquieting, his work depicts a private world that is both common and profound.
Liberman’s paintings also illuminate the ordinary in a personal way that makes them familiar, and yet evocative. Influenced by the art of the European masters and her travels to Italy, her work has a timelessness that compels reverence.

Artist: Nish Gunawardena
Location: Atrium Gallery
This exhibit will feature Gunawardena ‘s lush photographs of the American landscape from his book by the same title. “Gunawardena’s photographs eloquently remind us of the Eden that greeted Meriwether Lewis and William Clark some two hundred years ago, but cautions us that if we do not embrace this gift with our minds as well as our hearts we are in danger of squandering it completely,” wrote Michael Zajakowski, Chicago Tribune.
